OCMDmusic will bring the noise

April 30, 2009

local music goin off – i have some live LCC, from a tavern show, and new Soul Scrolls – i’ll hear it first when you do. that’s how it is.

looking for some new MDHC, and ryan muller is back, but someone swiped his bass amp, so that is no good. if you are the one who swiped that amp, you suck.

got some mana and got some fishbone. got some rachmaninoff, but that is not for the faint of heart. especially number 3.

wish i had some katchuturian, but that i left in a thrift store in the deep southeast of portland. with an old school record players. no really, one of the school grey ones.

and for the great down under, sporting an eastern shore as well, and for being such good sports about all of us from this here maryland eastern shore, who became a fan of them, thinking they were us, and didn’t even notice the mountains in the photo, or else thought, who knows what those folks up by cambridge are doing these days. for all we know they built some mountains.

well for the eastern shore of australia, i am playing blood by the middle east, a band from townsville. now the location of townsville i do not know, exactly. australia is round, and i for one find this a source of great confusion.

local musicians – IM me @OCMDmusic or email me ocmdmusic@yahoo.com – send some tracks along, don’t be shy. there is no time to be shy.

and for jeff simmons, who made radio23 possible, i say many thanks, and i say bring the noise.

OCMDmusic

dazed and confused, and this is not the exception, as there is no rule. here in OCMD and luckily i have a 12 minute version of the song. now *this* song is worth a dollar. everybody give led zeppelin a dollar.

so this drunk golfer guy walks in to the bar last night, all hunched over, permanently, as if he is constantly addressing the ball. he said he came from up north, then said connecticut, but hesitantly, as if it was not exactly connecticut, so now i am wondering if there is some sort of sub-state up there above new york city. if there is, i want in. i’ll run the beer cart.

so this guy takes on a couple of gnarly lookin skater guys, all by himself, like a pro. he drove six hours to get here, for twenty four hours. so i said, ‘hey – you’re in ocean city’, and i said, ‘come play our course’. maybe he will.

speaking of sub-states, michael pulls out this District of Columbia quarter and shows it to me. he says there is no place for it in the collectible item book, which only has the fifty states. but i say sure – why not let DC have their own money. hell, let’s even let them vote.

well it was a tough winter, but not too tough. things are picking up, and folks are taking care of each other. looks like we won’t need those air-drop supplies after all, but if anyone wants to send them, please include some loose tobacco.

by the way, locals (and golfer guy from the north), there are two good shows i know of this weekend. one is a delmarva nightlife blowout at Booty’s, with 86 the Effort and Phantom Limbs, and the Lower Class Citizens are playing at the tavern before they go on tour, so we should send them off right.

the first three songs on the playlist:

too many puppies
i can\’t surf
let\’s go tripping

those are by primus, the reverend horton heat, and dick dale, respectively, and respectfully.

what happens then. a fizzical meld of surf and punk, with the occasional protest song. (said protests are about money, love, and girls from glen burnie.)

some new local music from monsters from the surf (DC band). also tracks from local musicians dave wah, bond n bentley, stephen lebelle and lower class citizens.

and, as always, the omniprescient OCMD robots.

there *are* too many puppies.

i *can’t* surf.

so let’s go tripping.

peace,
rambly

so i got home

March 14, 2009

so i just got home. and what a night. what an evening. what a beginning to this day we call the st. patrick’s weekend.

and there were guinness girls, for short time, and they gave out tiny guinness glasses, til they left. and some people still ordered guinness, but i didn’t, because i can’t afford it.

and there were little guinness lighty necklaces. but i took the glowey guinness bottle off of mine, and shined the little laser lightbulb at people, but only my friends, because that’s just they way i am.

and me and meanredjenny, well, we toasted the depression, more than once, and whether those toasts were for the first depression, or the one now, or for the one in between (the one we both might of went through, silently), i’ll never know.

and the first band was pianowire. and boy did they get into it. i swear i was all kind of thinkin too fast, too many times, so often, then there i was right in the middle of the magic. those kids are from baltimore. or btown. or this other thing i cannot spell.

and then came the lower class citizens. and it was stellar. i mostly got lost. but i recorded some of it, and i had about eight minutes on my tape so who knows what i got. maybe tomorrow we’ll know.

because tomorrow is another day.

so at one i point, i toasted michael, too, who was not attending. we all hoped his st. patrick’s day weekend was kicking off right. as was ours.

and so, sadly, i must attest that MDHC’s ryan muller is going on the road for a time. but when he gets back, we are going to record. maybe even the day he gets back. who knows? plus a special guest. special guest, i say, we hope.

we can only hope, because time is still of the essence, in this town. time is still undefined. who really knows?

who knows what lurks in the minds of men? not me. wouldn’t want to. the way i see it, men are mostly nice, and sometimes cuddly.

and somehow i have a piece of red tape on my arm. funny thing, that.

anyway, back to the town, and back to the music, and back to the holiday.

happy st. patrick’s day, everyone,

rambly.
